From Lagos to Atlanta...
Mary (MJ) Okon is a multidisciplinary artist that recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Film & Television. Her nickname MJ comes from her mother who is also named Mary. This nickname inspired a creative childhood and passion for Mary to create and vicariously live through art. Mary learned a lot of technical and practical skills as she worked on various film sets accumulating over 4 years of experience. She is inspired by talented directors like Luca Guagdanino, Jordan Peele, Darron Aronofsky, and Ari Aster. As an independent film director, MJ makes sure to stay true to the details of her work as she feels they are most important.
